surprised nothing's been mentioned yet, but the windows 7 build 7000 was leaked last week. has anyone tried it out yet?
i plan on making another partition and giving it a whirl tonight. based on the benchmarks from the 69xx builds, it's looking pretty promising in comparison to windows XP SP3 :-*. |

I heard about it, but I'm not sure I want to make a temporary slot for this.

Hmmm, those benchmarks are a little light on information but it looks promising... From the screenshots I've seen it looks like vista with some UI tweaks... If you ask me it'll just be Vista SP4 with some tweaks. Hopefully it'll be better than vista but I wouldn't be surprised if they released vista with some make-up as Windows 7 just to get rid of the vista name and it's negative connotations...
Signature temporarily out of order until I get off my lazy ass to fix it. |

My boot CD didn't work last night. I'll give it a go later to see if this is the next OS I love, (if not, I'm looking at you Linux)

I'm going to hold off until it's officially released, I'm not a big dual boot person and I'm not too interested in being a bug tester with my main OS.
Fortunately I've been hearing a lot of good stuff about Win7 from friends who are using the beta, and a lot of them dislike Vista, so it must have at least a few major updates/changes for them to have changed their opinions. Anyone using it currently? |

[/quote] Granted, still the large icons in the bar look eerily like KDE... About 3d, linux' 3d features in compiz are rapidly developing and are looking like they will top both windows and mac os x soon... Combine that with a better graphical memory manager in the latest kernel and you might get something really nice... TBH I hope the playing field will level out quite a bit that users get more choice in OSes and still play the same games... I prefer linux/mac os x (as is well known) as a work OS and it sucks to dual boot with windows just to play with you people... Not saying windows should die but some competition would do a lot of good for all of us. Signature temporarily out of order until I get off my lazy ass to fix it. |

The Windows 7 megathread on Facepunch is showing some incredibly positive opinions from people who are using it. Many are using it as their primary OS now that it is quite stable it seems. It seems Windows 7 is what Vista should have been, and it seems pretty great.

This is the third time I have seen the phrase "on the cheap" in the last 12 hours, and I still can't stop laughing at it. I love the internet.
