Well, my video card is dead, curse you appealing sandwich design. Since I still have yet to get a job, even after searching all summer, I do not have the money to go out and get a decent video card. I was able to wrestle it into safe mode for vista but a system restore did not work. Even when booting Ill get lines and color distortion on the screen.
I also tried to boot into XP just in case I might have corrupt drivers and there was nothing wrong with the physical card itself. However once it starts to boot it will still freeze up and get no where. Ive been having graphical tearing problems (example) for roughly two months, but I did not notice any abnormally high temperatures (Its been roughly 50 - 55 C). Luckily I have this laptop to continue to apply to jobs with and to at least be able to be online. However, my time away from TF2 (and steam games in general) is indefinite until I can get a job, a paycheck, and finally a new card. I'll see if it wants to come back from the dead later tonight or tomorrow, but somehow I dont think its going to come back from the grave. Â Sig by Joel |

Edit: Update I managed to get it to boot, Im going to try putting it through some paces for a test, but I stand by not playing much if at all. Right now I have the side of the case popped open with a box fan next to it to alleviate the heat

Har har har, its the DX9 pathways that I think are shot, it was running last night, I got Deus Ex to run. Im going to do some more testing today, but as far as a handout goes unless its going to run TF2 at 60 or more FPS no thanks. Ill take this as a sign to concentrate more on finding a job. Good luck with the job hunt. The task of finding a new job is mainly the reason why I continue with the crappy job I have now.

[/quote] I definitely USED to get 60 fps with that card @ 1440x900. Tbh, I haven't noticed any huge performance gains since upgrading to the 8800GT, but I upgraded right around the time that lots of people started get huge performance drops due to the new unlocks and whatnot. So, you could definitely make it get somewhere in the neighborhood of 60fps, more if you dropped your settings to medium/low or something. Or you could just forget us and get a job. : Ripped like paper raped with ease hey scrub nerd pyros suck on these |
