Bad hoax. The metal plate to which the hydraulic fastens, clearly viewable and intact from the underside, would have have blocked any 'sposion. Even if the plat had some drill holes in it, it would have prevented a spolsion consistent with the exit wound on the seat above.

That is if there were any such explosion. I seriously doubt that these hydraulics have enough potential energy to puncture the wood, much less go any farther. If they did have that potential energy, then they would be strong enough to lift 100lb people (albeit slowly), which they don't.

On top of that, these are gas and oil filled dampeners with simple valving. I've attempted to rebuild a few on cars.
They do NOT have the ability to do anything but make an oily mess on the carpet.
