the ratings on Watchmen are going down, which is making me nervous, but I will see, nontheless.

Almost every fan I've read has liked it, the critics seem to not like it as much. Ebert did give it four stars though. The most common criticism seems to be that the movie is too faithful of an adaptation and doesn't really have any life of it's own. |

That's a slightly out of line opinion. Time to complain on Gametrailers forums. |

I looked at a lot of the negative reviewers. Some bring up good points, the majority are idiots. Actually, the first few comments on most reviews for Watchmen on Rotten Tomatoes keenly point out some good reasons why you can't even wipe your ass with some reviews. When a reviewer gives The Dark Knight, Slumdog Millionaire, and Watchmen a bad review, and hails Speed Racer, I don't take it seriously. Another reviewer couldn't seem to understand why the Soviets and America were at ends with each other. Never heard of the Cold War I guess. The negative reviews written by intelligent people pointed out things like important scenes that were missing or things like what Fyre said. I wonder if the Director's Cut that will make its way to DVD will remedy some criticisms.

Quote:Let me put it this way: There's a shot of a swinging bathroom door in "Watchmen" (one of countless images that is not taken from the comics), that is imbued with a visual wit, a love of movies, that makes you laugh with delight even as you cringe. I watched "Watchmen" with a big smiley face on the front of my head almost all the way through. It's consistently funny, though not necessarily in a guffaw-out-loud way. Think "Dr. Strangelove" Since Dr Strangelove is one of my favoritest movies evar, this is a Good Thing. |

Nice costume Spore, a bunch of my friends are all dressing up and seeing it at midnight tonight. They were gonna turn a minivan into a cardboard Owlship too, but decided that would be dumb-looking, time-consuming, and probably illegal in some way. Anyhoo I hope the movie's good, I'm seeing it tomorrow.

They gave it a bad review on NPR, but then I've never heard the guy like a movie TBH.

I had about 57 miniseizures by the end. |

Just got back from seeing it, yes they changed some scenes, but overall it's probably one of the best comic book to movie transitions done
spoilers for some Nite-Owl and The Comedian don't quell the riot with knockout gas, instead comedian jumps off and shoots them with a riot gun Rorschach is in costume when he goes to the bathroom during the riot instead of in his inmate uniform Fights are more exaggerated, there are more boobs and blue penis shown than in the comic (boobs a plus, blue penis is there for those who like it) Ozymandia's pet barely appeared until the end, when it had more appearances in the book, and Rorshach didn't note in his journal that he liked it Dr. Manhattan doesn't offer drinks to Laurie on Mars No giant tentacle monster appearing in New York, but same overall ending is achieved Rorschach does try to kill Ozymandias after his first failed attempt, but not with a fork like in the book Rorshcach ends up telling Dr. Manhattan to blow him up (not to mention this is the closest Rorschach probably comes to showing any real emotion) instead of Dr. Manhattan just doing it when he's walking away with his back turned The ending with the New Frontiersman guy choosing Rorschach's journal as the next big story is still there, but there are extra scenes after the US and USSR truce If anybody wishes to add things that were changed that I missed, feel free to do so. |
