Roger Ebert Wrote:Why does he even bother to make love with Laurie Jupiter? Not for his own pleasure, I'm convinced. And not to father a Little Manhattan, either, because as I understand his body he would ejaculate only energy. Could be fun for Laurie, but no precautions needed, except not to be grounded at the time.

Luin and I saw Watchmen last night. I don't know if I liked it.

There were times during the movie I felt that they missed the point, that the story gave way to over done effects.
I would have traded in 3 of the 4 minutes of the opening Comedian fight scene for background on Rorschach's face and grappling-gun.
Ditch 30 seconds of Ozymandias throwing people with super-human strength to simply state that his pet was genetically engineered.

The modified ending worked, but I feel the books squid ending was better; it at least has a smaller death toll.

I actually thought the new ending was better but had far deeper implications.  In the movie Ozzy basically creates a new god fully in the flesh.  That was sort of a part of the book but not to the extent it becomes in the movie.  So now people have this threat of a very real god over their head.  They want to fight against him but at the same time think that if they anger him he will kill a lot of people.  So they are forced to come to some sort of compromise where they half work together against his threat and half work together because of it.

Side note, did anyone else notice that during the detonation sequence they had a booklet referring to it as S.Q.U.I.D.?  I lolled.

I liked the movie overall, I don't know if it made me ecstatic seeing it.  I don't think it was that kind of movie, it took me a while before I even was able to decide if I liked it.  It made me think a lot even though I already read the book and I think that was the point.

The reviews are extremely varied though, and some reviewers make themselves out to be total idiots. One even said that the movie ended with all the heroes deciding that wiping out the eastern seaboard was a good way to save the world.
