I don't really want to buy a new card at this point, since the 7600GT is about all my PSU will run. I'm hoping to build a new PC this summer or fall.

Which we don't know for sure until you specify your PSU, but if it's an AGP version you're definitely SOL.  Cleaning it with canned air is definitely a good idea.  Also who is the MFR of your card?  I used to have an old BFG 6600GT which was covered under a lifetime warranty, and they still replaced/repaired it even though it was well out of date when it died.

Loud fan + new graphical glitches = bad fan + overheating. You can buy a replacement fan and do it yourself pretty easily, there's generally a couple screws on there. You'll need new thermal paste, which is also easy to do. Altogether it shouldn't run you more than 30 bucks to fix things up. I would suggest not doing any heavy/extended gaming until you do this or get a new card though, or you risk burning it out quite a bit faster.

Just because there was no previous noise doesn't mean there wasn't previous overheating. Fans can slow down/work off and on before they get noisey. Get a temp monitoring program and check it out to be sure, that's something you don't want to risk happening when it's so simple to check on.

92 c must be pretty hot.  I know 92 f is hot.

Adding a new fan to your case might help, if not, Blue's idea is probably the best.

On the topic of your PSU (just saw the post above)

Caff linked me to a useful site that has you put in all your computer parts and it will tell you how many watts it uses. Just put that info in with the card you want instead of the one you have. My PSU is 400W and I'm running a Pentium 4, 2.5 gigs 400mhz or something RAM, 1 120mm fan, and if I put a 9800 GT in it it would run fine.

Ok, my 250 watt PSU could run my crappy 8400, so I could guarantee you that your PSU can run a 8600 GT.

64 is too hot for a card that old idling, but not ridiculously so if you have poor cooling. Definitely look into getting a new case fan or replacing the card fan, and check your temps every so often while idling and during/immediately after gaming sessions. You want to be in the know if your shit starts getting any hotter than that.

8600 on a 350W should run fine.

I actually checked it again this afternoon and it was 56 idling. I dunno why it would be different than this morning.
