So I've been stuffed up pretty bad lately, and thought it was high time I visited an allergist, since this is a pretty yearly thing. Testing was simple, but they noticed that one of the results irritations was extremely large, even bigger then the histamine control. Turns out I'm highly allergic to Cashews. Thank god I had never eaten one before; as according to the Doc, I probably would have died if I had ever had. I'm safely armed with an epipen (I've been doing impromptu drills with random acquaintances with my practice one for kicks,) but it's still a little unnerving to know that I could very easily kicked the bucket had I just had some sprinkled on my food at a restaurant, or just casually eaten one on my own.

To make this a little less fail, any of you had similar (or hopefully more exciting) near death experiences?

Couple of decades ago, vacationed with some friends of family in a coastal camp, house on stilts kind of thing, and it hadn't been used in a while.  Heavy, heavy house dust.  My asthma kicked in, and guess who didn't have his rescue inhaler?  It was the middle of the night in sparsely populated ass end of the Gulf Coast.  That was a rough night, and my parents figured I probably almost hit cardiac fault on the danger scale.

I was blindsided by an SUV on the drivers side once.  Hit the front left of my car and not the door, but this made it occur to me that a split second later and I would've died.
