I remember that game.  Thinking back, it was pretty terrible.  So many cards were completely useless and existed solely to make people buy more packs.

Thats why its a collectable card game, no one would buy more if everything they got was all they needed.

It was worse than that. With any well designed card game any card will be useful in certain situations/decks.  Yu-Gi-Oh, on the other hand, had a ton of cards that only a complete moron would put in any deck ever.

Have you ever played magic the gathering?

If you don't, look at both cards, they do the same thing - counter target spell. The cost however, is so much worse for the first one and cycling doesn't really do anything (draw a card by discarding that one). 5 mana means turn 5 usually, and people are dead by then.

I actually just found this out recently, a lot of that has to do with how the game was originally made in Japan. The game their started out with just around 200-600 no effect monster, but expanded from there into what we know it as now. When they started releasing the cards in America they lumped those together with later cards and hence why there's so many useless ones. They're shit now, but they were all there were originally. (There was probably a far less convoluted way to explain that XD)

It's really an invalid argument. The game ends in half a turn on average, and nothing ever lasts past one second. It's inherently flawed is what it is. I tend to call it MvC2 for card junkies.
