So guys, I have this: http://us.creative.com/products/product....duct=10412

Creative Webcam Live.  So, I go to install the drivers, then immediately I can't move my g5.  I can still navigate with my tablet.  I restart, still can't move.  I uninstall and everything is back to normal.  If I boot in Safe Mode, I can move with the mouse.  I remember doing something to fix this before, like uninstalling something in the Device Manager.  It's late and I can't think, need some help guys.

Anybody?

this. try unplugging the G5 and then plugging it back into a different port, see what happens.

See if you have a recent system restore point.  Try going back to the latest one before this happened.

No no, I am aware of what happens.  If I uninstall the driver everything goes back to normal.  What I'm asking is if I can have the driver and mouse use.  HeK told me how to do it once, but I don't remember how to anymore.  ???

You can try hammering F8 while you boot, if you get it right you'll get a text menu just before the Windows startup screen.
There should be an option to revert to a previous restore point.

First thing I usually do is to disable system restore, but that's just me.

Have you tried moving either devices to different USB ports?

Are you using a motherboard that uses a VIA chipset?

Yeah, don't have system restore.

But I don't need to restore, I can easily get my mouse back.  I just want my webcam and mouse to work together in harmony. Sad

Bleh, don't know why I was writing the bit about system restore. I guess I was speed-skimming the posts and got mixed up.

Anyways, the last time you had mouse problems, it was related to the SetPoint drivers. As I recall, the fix was to drop into safe mode and remove the SetPoint software package. It appears that this isn't the problem this time.

Check your event logs, see if there is anything flagged in there. A webcam driver *shouldn't* affect a HID, but the really weird part is that it affects your G5, but not your tablet.

How are your USB devices connected? Is there anything that the mouse and camera share that the tablet does not? Different port blocks? Front vs back port? USB hub?

Webcam is in front usb ports, tablet and g5 in back ports.
