[/quote] I really wish IP holders would see the value of _ADDITIVE WORK_ that serves to add value to what they own, even fan made stuff that is given away for free adds some value.  [/quote]Or use their vast wealth to distribute it and give the maker a cut of the profits

[/quote]I agree, see the fan-made Star Trek show/movies. In this case, though, German IP law meant that the makers of the fan vid would then own rights to everything they used in the vid, including things that were previously GW-exclusive IP. That means they could license out Space Marines, Imperial Guard, etc if they wanted. What I think is ridiculous is that GW didn't push for a change in German legislature that would allow _reassigning_ of those rights, because the makers of the fan vid didn't even _want_ them.
