Welcome back to the BRB'U Fight Club, designed to determine just who can claim the title of Ultimate Badass. Round 6 was a solid victory for Simon (and now that I've started watching Gurren Lagann I can see why.) Tonight's could go either way, but I certinaly know who I'm voting for

And now for Round 7! The matchup:

Heads up, Liquid's entry contains spoilers for MGS1-4 (the latter of which is hidden for the sake of Versus)

Why he's a badass
Where to begin? Liquid is one of three clones of the legendary soldier Big Boss, and of three, the most "genetically superior," (meaning he's technically a bigger badass then Solid Snake himself.)  The player first encounters him though during his takeover of Shadow Moses, where he and his FOXHOUND Unit are threatening to launch nukes if there demands aren't met. Despite the ultimately unsuccessful operation, Liquid had ample opportunity to display what a badass he is; piloting a massive attack helicopter amidst a even large blizzard,  and then parachuting out of said helicopter once defeated (a feat that's physically near impossible.) Before his final confrontation with Snake, Liquid tricks his brother into activating the Metal Gear for him (a task he had been planning for Snake to do that whole time, even guiding him under the guise of Snake's old mentor Master Miller.) While Snake ultimately foils his brother's mechanical rampage, Liquid cheats death, saving Snake by dragging atop the now defunct Metal Gear REX so that the two can have a shirtless fist fight, for no reason other then to be an asshole. But finally, Snake triumphs over Liquid, throwing him off the top of REX to his unavoidable death. Oh wait, he STILL fucking survived, refusing to let his brother live after he ruined his plans so, and chases after Snake and Meryl in a jeep, driving it with one hand and using the other to shoot at them with an assault rifle. At long last though, our heroes escape, leaving Liquid to die in a fiery explosion even he couldn't survi-- god dammit, he did it again. Liquid casually strolls out of the burnt wreckage of his overturned jeep, ready to finish Snake off once and for all, when FoxDie kicks in, striking him down, Solid Snake himself couldn't even finish this badass off. And neither could death for that matter, for whatever reason, his Judas of a comrade Revolver Ocelot grafts Liquid's arm as a replacement for his own, only to find that at the worst times, Liquid's undead psyche manifests itself, possessing Ocelot and slowly gaining total control over his host. Come MGS4 (Spoilers following! Copy into something else to read) Ocelot had to cut off his new arm to rid his body of the uncontrollable Liquid, choosing instead to take a safer route and hypnotize himself and imitate the only man more badass then himself, to fool The Patriots (but that's its own highly convoluted story and this paragraph is WAY to long as it is Plus he sounds like this.

Why he's not a badass
Despite his near unstoppable tenacity, Liquid was, in the end, just a pawn in a larger game. But when you think about it, you can count the number of MGS charecters who don't fit that bill on one hand, so take from that what you will.

Why he's a badass
The 44th President, Barack Obama is famed for his slogans promising change, which unlike most politicians, he actually fucking brought. Obama triumphed over some of the greatest odds ever faced by a presidential nominee, fighting racism and bigotry over letting a brown man who's name sounded too much like Osama run the country, proving just how far we've come. Now that he's taken office, Barack has proved erudite and effective in tackling the countries pressing problems and beginning to right the horrid wrongs of the previous administrations. Apart from that, he appears to be a genuinely good guy as well, laughing it up with Jay Leno and Stephen Colbert, who truly knows about the plights of the everyman.

Why he's not a badass
Despite numerous positive measure enacted, Barack has yet to make proposals to fix some of the most pressing atrocities like secret prisons throughout Europe and ending all the unwarranted surveillance conducted on the American public in the name of the Patriot Act. But like his competitor, these are but small dents in an overwhelmingly badass rep.
