Too many wires, more than my mind can handle.
My sound system has like 5 or 6, I have 2 monitors which both have 2 cables, a printer which has like 3 wires, a tablet that has another 4, and then even more shit.

How in the fuck do I keep it all organized, yet portable so when I go to school I dont kill myself?

Velcro ties from Dynex™.  Won't be as secure as the those zip ties, but they serve me.

I'd also recommend large ziploc bags or empty butter containers to segregate different-purpose cabling.  Carrying those could be the job of a plastic Rubbermaid-ish storage bin like what can be purchased at Wal Mart.

That is how I organize all the cables on my racks. And I have a lot of cables. And a lot of racks.
That and velcro wraps, as Fail mentioned. Only I use the Tak-Tape from Panduit.

On this topic, what do they call that device that's basically a rigid spine with gapped sides (through which cables can thread at any point) that can be fitted with a plastic strip as a cap?  Is there a product name or did I just witness something that was jerry-rigged?

Sounds like some kind of plastic conduit or raceway.

I just used a lot of electrical tape in my machine when I wanted to organize the inside to have better airflow.

No, not a raceway.. not like that one, kinda similar.  The cables can come out at any point on the thing I'm talking about but stay wrangled.  I will ask around because I wish to purchase a couple of lengths of it.

[/quote]If I worked at the home office I'd probably be able to gank you some, but I don't so I can't >_< If one of the sales guys is in the office today I can ask how much it costs, though, if you can tell me how much of it you need. Or were you just going to try to find it online?

Oh wait, the OP was sponson and that's probably overkill for him. Meh. If either of you want some though LMK and I'll see about getting it for you though.

Additionally: I recognized the name that HeK posted, that's the brand of stuff we use: http://www.panduit.com/Products/ProductO.../index.htm which is almost exactly what mission posted, gg me.
