that board is probably going to end up being a waste of your money simply for the fact that you won't utilize half the features

Don't get me wrong, it's a great motherboard. I just don't get the impression you'd use all the bells n' whistles that come with it. What kind of memory, PSU, and GPU do you have right now?

I just got an E8400 for my gaming rig and I'm loving so far. The mobo looks nice too, but not $200+ nice. I bought an Asus P5N32-SLI Plus about a year or two ago which is a very similar mobo but with a different chipset, P4 support, different audio, and more USB ports and it was not more than $200.

Is that supposed to be a joke?  You complain about him not needing the features and then post a mobo with triple SLI support?

1) I wasn't referring to SLI
2) He's saving $90 by not paying for the "STRIKER II FORMULA ZOMGZ" name. Don't be dumb

[/quote]+ if you look at the specs both boards have three PCIX 16x slots, so they technically both could do triple-SLI.
+ it's actually harder to find a board that DOESN'T support SLI

ASUS is a solid brand, and usually I'd say stick with them because they stand behind their shit, but XFX has been around a while as well so that's probably a solid board.

The only thing that stood out to me was the lack of DDR2 1066+ support on the XFX board. If you don't plan on putting top-of-the-line RAM into it then that's not an issue.

In-depth review results here say it's a mediocre board that runs hot: http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews.php?/...erboard/11

All of the striker boards are mediocre/not worth the money now.. They were top notch, but they rode on that name and didn't bother to keep earning it.

I just stay away from named products unless i've seen a good review. The 'normal' numbered ASUS boards are always solid, although ASUS has started charging even more of a premium ever since the EEE got popular and they became a super-household name. They're good boards though, I've built 6-7 PCs with various ones from them and never had a problem.

Question: Will the new motherboard fit in my case? I only have a stock board with 1 PCI 2.0 Express slot.

If your case is an ATX case, and the board is an ATX board, the motherboard will fit. However, you may not have the clearance you need inside the case to use the cards you want. You'll have to either measure that yourself or figure it out by trial-and-error.
