PS Fridays - 8/14 - And the Winner Is....

Through a very complicated and scientific process of sticking a bunch of pieces of paper into an old margarine dish, which I then attempted to film with the pinhole webcam on my laptop (but it didn't take any film when I went back to check). The winner of the contest from last Thursday/Friday was MissionDifficult. He can PM me on steam anytime in the next few days with what he wants as a prize.

For this week the "20 people" contest is back on, we shattered that last week and between all the people that did show up we did hit a full platoon (though not all at once). We did have at our height, I believe something like 26 or 27 people on at once. One thing we do need to work on is vent etiquette when we have that many people on. When we have 6 - 12 on its fine to crack jokes or shout things, but when we have 20+ people on, its just not possible. So please, when we get a lot on, please try to keep chit chat to a minimum when we are actually trying to accomplish something. We can chit-chat during down times like waiting for a  base to finish hacking.

If someone yells at you to stop talking, or asks that the channel be kept clear, its for a good reason and not because we hate you. I will use the admin I have on vent to actively mute you so we can keep everyone together in the same channel.

I will take a screenshot of the full platoon, if people shuffle in and out so that we are still over 20 but some names have changed I will take another screenshot. I do know Atomsmasher for a time was doing one for 15 people but Im not sure if he is still sponsoring that.

Fun in this game increases exponentially with the more people that join up so I hope to see more of the people that stated they were interested in the initial thread to come out, the game is FREE, but you are restricted to 14 days after which you will have to start all over again. If you get "suspended" or banned since the trial accounts are loopholes just make another one. Conversely you can spend $20 to pick up the game at direct2drive, which comes with a free month, this allows you to keep your character instead of having to re-level someone every 2 weeks.

Make sure all .EXE files are running in compatibility mode for Win95 and all the boxes for 'disable vista themes' are also checked.

Remember, the trials sometimes will RANDOMLY suspended you, just a heads up.


If you have issues running the game, make sure launchpad.exe and planetside.exe are both being run in Win95 Compatibility mode

I'm trying to leave complex (i.e. more than four word) questions to /squad chat instead of voicing them over Vent, especially if they're out on the field and I'm wondering what to do.

Game questions are completely and totally OK. But, when it sounds like others are in the midst of combat, I try to hold it for a lull.

I think caff and others are really talking about when people idly chat about non-ps things when stuff is heating up and we need voice-comms open to coordinate an attack of 6-15 people.

omg lol i love hate tells.  today i warped in and saw enemy ant filling and drove circles around them until i got a hate tell.  then i chased down someone that dropped from explodey ship and watched her plasma herself so i couldn't kill her, she messaged me to say i was ignored after i called her a wuss
