If you are doing it for a class they usually test the output against a working program using the linux diff command to compare text files.

While you may write the program perfectly well, if you don't output the text they tell you to, diff returns the lines that are different and you get doc'd points. At least...that's how it happened with me

I'm thinking if someone wanted the sigs gone, they would be all gone, not just those that changed theirs.
