i haven't tried .mil but I'm guessing it won't work.  However, you can purchase Windows 7 for full MSRP at the PX.  They tell me that once upon a time, the PX did not suck.

btw digitalriver's distribution suck's major dick, you should spring for the discs if you haven't made the purchase already. I bought it through them, they whiffed hard on the distribution, so I setup a vpn back at my school so that I can just use the school's version and get it authenticated through them.

yeah, I downloaded pro, 64 bit, i'm backing everything up and we'll see if I can get vista home premium 32bit to upgrade to it (yeah, I know it's "not supported" but I think a custom install will do it.)

it's called an "upgrade" but it's a full install, since nearly everyone on the planet has to do a clean format followed by a "custom" install.

btw if you're on 32bit and upgrading to 64bit, be prepared to work some voodoo to get it all to work right: http://www.downloadsquad.com/2009/10/22/...windows-7/

The exe you get from digitalriver is incapable of properly unpacking itself in a 32bit environment, you'll need to do a bit of google-fu before you can chop it into an iso and slap it onto a bootable dvd

why they didn't just give people an iso I will never understand.
