The problem isn't so much the spelling as it is what the spelling means for pronunciation. Japan doesn't have a straight up "l" or "r" sound. Instead to replace these things they have a roll of the tongue that is neither and L or an R but sounds closer to R because it rolls. But when you put "Holo" on paper and ask someone who doesn't speak Japanese to pronounce it, their going to call her "Hoe-Low" like a fucking idiot when her name is closer to being pronounced "Horo", or "Hor-l-row". The decision to make her name "Holo" and not adjust it for western is kind of dumb when you consider Spice and Wolf has an eastern setting, they pronounce her name with an r sound, and her name which can be pronounced the way it can in Japanese, won't make sense to the pronunciation of a western audience who are going to fuck her name 6 ways from sunday.

I've been watching an anime called Kanokon. It's an ecchi anime and it's got lots of fanservice and moe outfits, but at the same time, it's really a "feel good" anime. It's not anything revolutionary or mind boggling. But if you turn your brain off and just enjoy it, it's really really good.
