It seems like every time I bring my computer to a LAN party, my video doesn't show up on boot.
I've moved my video card to different slots on my motherboard, so I want to rule that out.
What ultimately fixes the problem and allows me to see my boot process is for me to take the card out and put it back in a few times.
I don't know if I'm inadvertently doing something in that process that is fixing it, but I really don't get it at all.
What's odd is that reseating it doesn't always work right away, I have to do it a few times before it works. I've tried pushing the card in before taking it out, that doesn't work at all and the card doesn't seem like it's even moved.

Does anyone have any idea or should I contact my GPU manufacturer?
Card works great otherwise.

speaking of odd video problems, I didn't get any video on my old desktop and i had thought that my video card had finally burned out for good, but a friend gave me some components he wasn't using anymore and it still hadn't worked.  Must be my monitor that had started fucking up the signal.  It still displays it's own information just fine, and seems to register signals from my computer and laptop, but doesn't display anything so i'm fairly confidant it's the monitor that's fucking up.

Zane, I saw that exact problem quite often when I used to organize lan parties.

Your computer case flexes during transport, and cards shift around, reseating usually helps.

What you can also try:
-Clean the contacts of your video card with a soft pencil eraser; followed by a good swabbing of 99%+ rubbing alcohol, changing the swab every couple inches.
-Clean the contacts inside the pci slot with a sterile alcohol pad... if you can find one. Do not use wetnaps.

Make sure that your card is seated properly front-to-back. If you travel a lot, the alignment between your motherboard and case may have shifted and is causing contact issues.

It sounds like you have a build up of oxidization on your contacts.

I'll make sure I try to clean it at some point in time.
It's never that big a deal cause I don't LAN that much.

Thank you much.
