I've been researching GTA IV for PC, and I've got good news and bad news.  The good news is several online stores have put up release dates for PC.  Also, Rock Star has refused to comment on the state of the PC release which in the past has always indicated that it's in development.  The bad news is that the release date is in late October.  I don't know about you guys but I don't want to have to wait six months.

Definitely sucks, but it is hardly any different than every other release of GTA.

Definite disadvantage of XBL that you are reliant on your friends network and cannot join dedicated (and thus reliably non-assholish) servers.

So, since I was sick all weekend I finally picked this back up and almost got up to 5 hours of gameplay! :p

Mostly love it, but I gotta agree with all the complaints about the driving. You just can't drive the same way you did in previous GTA games. Honestly feels less realistic than before, unless the roads are always supposed to be slick with rain or something.Takes getting used to, but I'm sure when I get higher end cars stunts won't be as much fun.

scotty if you want to learn how to drive your cars better do this

go to the bathroom
turn on the shower
get naked (optional)
rinse the tub down with water
take a bar of soap and toss it from side to side in the tub.

see how the soap ,and your car in gta have similar physics ? refer to this when playing and it will help (more if you got naked at step 3)

seriouser note , i stopped playing this game at about 56% completion.
why?

because i hate those fucking chase missions.
why?

its not becuase i dont know how to drive.
i shot the tires out on my targets MOTORCYCLE and he was still able to pull perfect 90 degree corners.
i completed the mission and got on this magic motorcycle to see if i could handle it in a similar fashion.
or course not.

all these chase missions , the target will be driving on literaly rails.

they will be able to do corners that you only wish you could do.

fuck that shit. unfair.

game will also spawn shit in your path, completely breaking your immersion.

I really really hate the chase mission.  But the game has gotten alot easier now that i have a girlfriend that will wipe my wanted level with a quick cell call.  She's a needy bitch though and never puts out.

Yeah, like Jim Sterling said: driving in GTA4 is like spunk on soapy water.

I thought chase missions involved you just keeping up with the target, until some event happened and you could then catch them for real. Isn't that something they've always done? The first few chase missions I've done seemed to be like that.

i guess that's the way you're supposed to play it , but im always of the mind if i put 400 bullets into the car ahead of me , someone gona die.
and shame on the developers for not letting it play out like that. i dont give a fuck if you have a nice scripted cut-scene waiting for me at the end if i fail to aim at the head of the driver.
you have to let go of your pride and let me play the game the way i want to.

Just bought it for $20 on black friday.  It runs like total shit on my PC.  To get 30 FPS most of the time I have to put it on low settings, which is about 10 FPS difference from max settings.  That's absurd considering I can run every other modern game on max settings with a great frame rate.  Also the driving sucks balls.
