It's the only thing I'm missing and I can't decide. Looking to spend under $200, preferrably closer to $100 but I want it to be DX11 compatible for longevity. Looking at Radeon 5750 and 5770s.

Why not just go the same route I did?

Well every 5750 seems to be $145, so just get one of those?  I honestly doubt DX11 is going to make any difference, but they're not really a bad deal for a new solid card anyways.

I wouldn't touch ATI with a 10 foot pole  :-\

But that's just from my own personal experience, every one of my friends that bought them had them burn out within a year

No denying that ATI are big kids on the block when it comes to performance now though. There 5000 series cards also consume ridiculously low amounts of power when idle and don't run as hot. Seem like good improvements all around. Also, tell your friends to bring their computers out from under their dusty desks so they can get some air.

This was years ago, and as far as who ever has the "fastest" card, it flip flops every few months depending on who has the newest revision of their chipset out

I won't deny that, and I still love NVidia up the butt. I just wish they'd get on with their 300 series. Fermi is lookin' just dandy for super computing, but that's not what I'm gonna be doing. Give me GeForce!

ATI's problem isn't the hardware, it's the shitty shit shit driver support and coding.  They may have the fastest stuff on the market atm, but you'll have more problems I'd bet.

That's what I'm worried about, the 5000 series seems like the best deal but I've heard bad things about their drivers. Nvidia has amazing driver support.

Nvidia has announced its first product in the 300 line today! It's the GeForce 310. Too bad it's a the super mega low end and is just a rebranded GeForce 210 with the same specs ): I was really excited and everything.

What're you playing though?  ATI cards wouldn't run red faction: guerilla at all, they have problems on older engines to the point of being unplayable, etc.  ATI just seems like it's optimized to work only for current gen stuff and nvdidia usually still does a better job.

This is the truth, sadly.  ATI takes shortcuts to get the best performance out of lead titles and it leaves them weaker for overall compatibility =/.

I'm in the minority with my AMD chip-set (I expected that), but how in the hell am I in the minotiry only having ONE processor. Hell before I looked at that pole I had no idea it was even possible to put more then one processer in a computer  ??? Is that referring to duel-core? Because then I kind of understand.

It means number of cores. I feel awful for still being a part of the single core and Windows XP statistics. One more month though...

I bought an ASUS Geforce 250 1 gig. Turns out I like Nvidia too much to switch.

Probably the right call. I have an ATI card, but I'd swtich it out for dual SLI Nvidia in a heartbeart. They aren't bad card in general, but I already need to send my most recent ATI card back for manufactoring flaws (6 month old PC). I've just had bad luck with them.
