Hmn... well it caused the frame rate on my wonderful piece of shit rig to drop to about.. oh 3 frames a second, while it made a lag spike that would be a crash in the source engine that lasted for... awhile....

Also, backfire mark that damn hole where you buried that horrible machine, I dug the bloody thing up by accident.

Yes, it's worth it. It makes things SOOOO much easier and you can see your changes as you make them.

Every time I connect to the SMP server, I get an error after about 3 seconds of playing

"Internal Execption: java.io.IOException: Bad compressed data format"

then it puts me out to the main menu.  Anyone else getting this/thoughts?

Try Re-DLing Minecraft and try to connect without any modifications, if it works add em one by one till you get the error, then you'll know which it is

I just had a breakthrough idea: using water slides as transportation.
I was pissed that I kept getting pushed away from my crops while getting their seeds from in my irrigation stream, then I realized that I could move pretty fast when I stopped fighting against it.

Also, I want to change my map from a snow map to a not-snow map.  I was able to disable new snow in MineEdit, but it messed up the save every time I try to replace snow and ice blocks with air and water.

New questions to stack on my old ones: What's obsidian used for other than bomb-proof building material?  And what do I do with these slime balls that appeared in my mine?

Obsidian is just super building material, though I'll never use it.  Takes way too long to mine.  And you got slimes?  I haven't seen one slime yet in any game.

Well not really.  From screenshots I've seen of earlier MC versions, slimes were alive.  These are just spheres that appeared on the floor that got sucked up to my inventory as I walked near 'em.

I've encountered 2 slimes before. After I killed the first one, I got a ton of the little balls (but that trip was ill-fated so I lost them all). I only got a single slime ball on the second encounter.

Sure they are slimes?  The slimes are supposed to be enemies of multiple size that only seem to have been in the older versions of the game.
