and now I'm wishing I could find the comic somewhere, or really anywhere at all. Not even the local shop has it Sad

Amazon is your best friend.

would rather buy it 1-2 issues at a time, to see whether or not I'll actually enjoy it (the concept is appealing at least, dunno about execution). But thanks, I didn't even think to look on amazon lol

I've read it; it's definitely not Mark Millar's best work. It starts out interesting, but it ends up not really having any focus and devolves into a really shallow plot. Also that book Karth linked doesn't include the last two issues.

Doesn't that pretty much describe everything he has written?

To an extent, but Kick-Ass is definitely the most blatant example.

I hit the jackpot at the book store. New Jack and Fables went straight comedy for the most part for the crossover and dear lord I haven't laughed so hard at a comic book in ever.

Also finally got to see what the fuss was about with Heavy Liquid by Paul Pope. It's a solid cyber punk story but the art is amazing. Like absolutely jaw dropping amazing. Every panel could be framed. Any artists here that are interested in modern and comic book art should check it out.

It is good. Also I keep reading the Northlanders. The last trade is awesome. There is one comic dedicated to viking single combat.

Just read the first issue of this
[Image: AC3LQl.jpg]
and so far it's pretty good. It's a french comic about a cool assassin dude.
Also reading this

Really liking the art style and premise. Basically about an immortal dude who travels through time to save the human race.

Oh hi this thread.

Can anyone recommend a badass/fun to read graphic novel for me?  I'd prefer if it came in an anthology so I don't have to buy a million tiny books, I really liked Watchmen, Sin City, and 300.  Never bothered to go out and look for other comics, so recommendations appreciated thanks.

Sandman
Fables
DMZ
Lucifer
Northlanders

Really anything by Brian Wood, Mike Carey, or Neil Gaiman.

That comic has moments of brilliance and major dragging sections. Kind of like Y: The Last Man. I need to finish Y and catch up on Ex Machina  :-\

Also the Walking Dead is p great if you like zombie movies. And if you don't mind being left hanging there was an amazing comic called Gotham Central that got canceled because one of the creators got a better offer and the comic was never really popular during its run. It's a procedural crime story based in Batman's Gotham, which is amazing because it really explores the everyman versus the impossible (supervillains). If you read it and then re-watch The Dark Knight I'm convinced it borrowed heavily from that series. There was one part in the movie I just knew something was going to happen that didn't because everything looked exactly how I remembered it from the comic.

There were two really stand out arcs that everyone should read, one features the joker and the other two-face.

Everything Surf mentioned (including Y: The Last Man and Ex Machina), plus:

Powers
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (1000x better than the shit movie)
I Kill Giants
Astro City
Scott Pilgrim

And that's just the non-mainstream-superhero stuff.

Criminal is the single greatest series of the last ten years.  Hand down, not one better.

Well, the last series, Sinners, wasn't 100% great, but the first four (Coward, Lawless, The Dead and The Dying, (my favorite) Bad Night) are pitch perfect noir tone.
