Built mine for $900 and it's pretty awesome. What parts do you really need? $600 can get you a nice mobo/proc and vidja card if you can salvage the rest off your current rig, if not you will have to shell out for the necessaries.

i can probably come up with another hundred, but i dont need a ton of top of the line stuff, i dont need more then a 500 gig HDD, can make do with 6gigs of ram, i want a nice fan and case tho because i have an issue with heat in this aptmnt

The Coolermaster HAF932 case I have is awesome in terms of cooling and airflow, but it is a full tower and the price is a little steep for a $600 build
Here's their midsize version, which should still have plenty of room, ventilation, and fans for whatever you want to stuff in it.

you can build a tower for about 500 that will run most newer games well

also, the HAF 922 is totally worth it

i've seen GPU chipsets integrated into motherboards that have a decent amount of power in them as well

I can attest that the mobo and gpu in that image go well together.

I'm quite sure that most mobos will accommodate most graphics cards though.

Toms hardware did a test on it, that presumption is pretty much false

It comes with plenty of good looking, labeled cables... Though they are a bit thick. The molex connector cable is a pain to deal with though. Organized appearance courtesy of a large case, ample twist ties, and brute force.
