The tray holding up the PSU is perforated, and the bottom of the case is mesh. I figured it wouldn't be an issue at all, and it hasn't been thus far. The bottom of my netbook is warmer than the PSU in my desktop. If it ever becomes an issue, I could always just mount it on the top and replace my top fan to accommodate it.

Also, I think it would actually be a marketable idea to create a computer case made of sheets of light, sturdy cardboard or plastic or another material in a sort of cutout/foldout form. Like a cheap, ecofriendly alternative to a normal case. Also, it would make for extremely easy modification. And if I see any of you stealing this idea and making any money off of it without me getting some, I will hunt you down and kill you.

I was thinking more along the lines of you getting flat sheets of a material, and then fold, cut, and paste the different components into place. It wouldn't necessarily have to be super open like that.

[/quote]So IKEA, but with a computer case. I foresee two problems with that: #1 people fuck up assembly and the thing isn't sturdy enough, #2 EMF (aka 'there's a reason cases are made entirely out of metal')

Supposedly this setup could be better as it does not blow hot air into the case but directly out, this of course depends on how great the airflow is through the bottom mesh and under the case.

Also how do you like the RAM? We have very similar computers but my RAM is G.Skill and I can't get it to it's proper speed.

It initially was just running at what I can only assume are the mobo defaults, so I changed the values to match what the RAM was supposed to be running at in BIOS. Honestly though, I didn't really notice a change in performance... It's like adding another 10hp to a Porsche. Other than having to manually adjust the settings, I am very happy with the RAM. Would be nice if it was cheaper though.

@Atom: Yeah, pretty much like that. Would still be a fun concept to try out if someone had the resources and know-how to pull it off though.

Open air cases generally have shit cooling as they lack separation of cold intake and hot exhaust and any type of flow path.
