Duck, let me start by establishing my expertise in this area.  I have had two multi-year relationships go south like that, a two year and a damn near 6 year.  2 weeks after the end of the 6 year one, she announced her plans to move in with her next door neighbor; they're now engaged, good for them, because we were actually a pretty crappy match, granted I wanted to murder her at the time, and drank heavily because of it. 

Duck, I'd like to start by saying, Don't Panic.    This may seem cliche, but it's completely true.  Otherwise, you'll do something stupid, like move to Paducah, KY and work at the Dipp'n'Dots production facility for half a year. 

Duck, next I'd like to reassure you, it will get easier.    The cycle of feelings you have described will continue, for a long damn time, longer than you really want.  But, think of it as a dampened oscillation, every time you go through the cycle, those feelings will be less pronounced, the duration shorter, and the time between the bouts will be lengthened.  It may help to demonize her, which sounds like it'd be pretty easy to do, but that'll just add a little extra work at the end to un-demonize her (or fuck it, just leave her as the devil in your mind).  You will tell you're making progress when, in a couple months, you begin to make realizations about the quality of relationship you two actually had. 

Duck, next I'd like to be honest with you, this is going to suck.  For me, knowing The Suck is coming, how The Suck will operate, and how long it will last, is a great help in Embracing The Suck.  I hope you feel the same.  I would say, don't dwell on her, keep busy, but I wouldn't start dating again anytime soon.

And try to not drink as much.

I've been there, recently. I lost 10lbs the first week. I've lost 7 more, and kept it all off. I've drunk so much more that I've seen the shakes in the morning a few times. I've called out of work when I've been hung-over. I've slacked off on personal goals. Listen to Crow, the Suck is inevitable, embrace it, know it, and continue through it.

Though I can talk and talk for hours, I have little to offer that might help, except re-adding you to steam, and this...

I had a girl dump me cold turkey like that before. We used to live in the same town, she ended up moving to Orange County California, we kept in touch, mostly over skype video chat for hours on end (since it was much cheaper than racking up phone bills) She also used to live in Cali previously, she said she wanted to take a break since an old flame reappeared in her life and wasn't sure on her feelings at that point. Went 5 months with no contact whatsoever, her skype account was completely dead, she clicked a phishing link on myspace a long time ago, so that's gone. (Also doesn't appear on Facebook at all either) Talked to one of her best friends in Cali who went to school with her, said she was still single and he'd try and get her on Skype for me. No go. It's been 4 years since the fact. I don't even know if she's still alive. So yeah. F.M.L

$5 says she's dating some guido douche or something. I'd be able to put this all behind me if I knew she was alive or not. It'll probably always be in my head somewhere since it was exceptionally painful. Doesn't help there aren't any other girls of her caliber here as far as looks and personality go anyway.
