Special anti-glare coatings are applied to plasma screens, and solvents contained within glass cleaners such as Windex and Formula 409 contain high alcohol content and can damage the plasma TV screen and anti-glare coating. Abrasive materials, such as paper towels, should never be used to clean a plasma TV screen, as wood products will scratch and etch the surface of the screen.

I think the plasma's scratching problems may be due to the anti-glare coating more than the cats.

Given the lack of specific, concrete, and actionable alternatives in this thread (and elsewhere on the webs), I formed the opinion that most of the anti-ipad sentiment is overblown and borders on FUD. The enterprise / commercial development folks I know are pretty psyched about the platform (which is more than one can say for any existing mobile MS platform. Android may turn out well, but is still 1-2 years behind apple).

I pre-ordered one. I'll let those who are interested know how it goes.

I didn't attend, but I know at least half-dozen people who did (and met for beers afterward). Word was you couldn't swing a cat by the tail in there without hitting at least 3 iphones, and most of those iphone owners were bully on the ipad.

Like the article surf posted earlier said, I'm beginning to view mobile platforms how I view console platforms. That is, I think depth of the software library and developer support will do a lot more for the success of the platform that pure technical superiority.
