Screen keeps going black in game

About 5 minutes or so after I launch a game (any game, so it can't be a problem with the game) my screen will freeze for a second or 2, then go black. About 10 seconds or so later the screen reappears and keeps playing. After the first time my screen goes black, it starts happening again and again with less and less time between them every time it does it (although it's different for different games). It's gotten to the point where I just can't play.

Anybody have any idea why this might be happening?

Sounds like a driver issue with your video card...

I updated my drivers like not even a week ago

and diglett, me and my dad made this computer like i think 4 or 5 years ago

Well pie told me to try running a game with the case open, and so I did


It never blacked screened and ran fine, with a few exceptions (phone screen didn't come up, half of my pause menu was missing)

I'm assuming it just needs to be cleaned

Ok so i just ran Madballs and Garry's Mod aswell

Garry's Mod only had 1 blackout over like 30 minutes of playing

Madballs had like 3 all one after another

You might look into installing rivatuner and setting up some custom fan speed rules.

yeah, overheating seems whats goin on. Make sure there's no dust caked on the heatsink, and may want to look into organizing  wires inside that case for better air flow, and maybe some new/more fans. make sure you have intake and exhaust fans, that's crucial!

So i have like 1 large fan and that's basically it. Also while i was cleaning with the can o air i had the can upside down and i sprayed it (because i needed to get on the bottom parts of some stuff, and it sprayed like frozen watery shit, is that bad? :<

youre not supposed to turn it over otherwise you end up with lox (or whatever it is they use in there) spraying out lol. good way to get rid of a wart for cheap though

should be fine if shit wasnt running and u didnt spray so much of it that u froze and fractured something
