[/quote] Holy shit maybe back to the future is coming true. Quote:In February 2010, film website Cinema Blend reported that a source from Universal Pictures has indicated that Universal is "strongly considering" remaking Jaws in 3-D, following the commercial success of Avatar. The source also reported that 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan was considered to portray Matt Hopper in the remake, which they say could be more comedic and make more use of special effects. The studio has not officially commented upon the rumor. I want my hover board.

The studio has not officially commented upon the rumor. No, and furthermore FUCK NO, Jesus H Christ, do they not understand what made Jaws good in the first place. The terror and suspense from Jaws stemmed from _NOT_ seeing the shark, with the exception of the fin or a silhouette until the very climax of the film. Masterful music queues helped greatly, not some 3D underwater shot of the shark swimming over the audience. Also while Jaws had moments of comic relief, it doesn't need any more than it has in the original. What ever studio exec suggested this needs to be dragged out into the street and publically flogged. Just like when Murdoc suggested remaking Citizen Kane in color and got an enormous backlash for it. </RAGE>  Sig by Joel |

also, i would totally be down for a bad 3d remake of jaws, at that point i can pretty easily convince myself its not a jaws movie, jusit a cheesy bad scifi movie about a shark a la MST3K

I hope not. 3D, from my experience, is something that has to be made with the movie in mind, not as a cheap gimmick. And did anybody forget Jaw 3? That was in 3D, and that was regarded as an awful movie.
What more: 3D + Horror Movies = Recipe for Disaster/Mystery Science Theater. |
