Every "International Reporter Investigating North Korea" news feature is pretty much exactly the same.  Still though, it's always mind-blowing, and the creepy, coreographed kids are always one of the most entertaining things you can find online.  As soon as I saw "Life inside the North Korean...."  I got all excited, KNOWING that I'd see some more of that disturbing child dancing.

I watched that last night. North Korea is like Bizarro world. I didn't realize that Kim Il Sung is still considered to be the president. Even though he's been dead for 16 years.

I also decided that if I was elected president, I would task the military and CIA to retrieve the USS Pueblo. Then watch Kim Jong Il shit himself at Mach 8 when he wakes up the next morning and the ship is just gone.

This comment on reddit seems to explain it:

    “I wouldn’t have done this if lives weren’t in danger,” says Lamo, who discussed the details with Wired.com following Manning’s arrest. “He was in a war zone and basically trying to vacuum up as much classified information as he could, and just throwing it up into the air.”

This is Lamo's public reason, but I suspect another. Lamo is a visible public supporter of Wikileaks. By revealing his actions to Lamo, Manning has made Lamo a co-conspirator in what would surely be put before the courts as treason. By contacting Lamo over unencrypted Instant Message, it is extremely likely military intelligence would have records of this communication.

Lamo has no method of confirming that Manning leaked the videos - for all Lamo knows, Manning could be lying to make himself look important or even a CIA operative trying to entrap Lamo and publicly charge a prominent supporter of Wikileaks.

If it turns out the Manning was actually the leaker, I'm sure Lamo will loose standing in the hacker community, but faced with the alternatives he chose the safest route for himself. He never asked to be involved in the leaking, I can't say that I blame him for covering his ass.

The lesson to learn from this is that if you leak something to Wikileaks, don't talk about it with anyone else except Wikileaks, at least until the statute of limitations expires.
