I'm buying a PS3 tomorrow and I just realized I have no idea which games to buy. I was thinking Demon's Souls and Uncharted with expansion into God of War and Killzone soon after.

Nice, do you have 1080p HD on your TV? I was thinking about buying a PS3 just for a Blu-Ray player, but I'm not sure if the picture is really $350 or whatever levels of superior to my HDMI output on my Xbox (my normal DVD player). Is that a route you are going, or are you just getting it for gaming?

God of War 3 if you like God of War and mindless hack n slash.  Uncharted 2 is good story driven stuff.  Metal Gear Solid 4 is of course Metal Gear Solid, so it's abit drawn out in parts, but pretty solid.

3D Dot Game Heroes for the win also.  Steer clear of Resistance.  Both games are pretty generic shooter crap.  I watched my buddy play Infamous which looks pretty good also.

You've got a lot a choices to pick from, just kind of depends on what genre's you like. If you like Mario Bros a lot (or platformers), LittleBigPlanet is a great choice with nearly-infinite amounts of replay. I've heard Uncharted 2 is fantastic, but I haven't played it yet, so don't depend on me for answers.

As a matter of fact, I say you just rent a couple titles. That way you won't be angry with what you get.

Uncharted 2 is great if your wanting an action movie quality story and some pretty epic set pieces and locations.  The acting, visuals, and plot is pretty well done and the third person shooter aspect works good.

I would say that LBP is not a guarantee if you like platformers...I think platformers can be great, but I was not impressed with the game.  I didn't want to play the main game and you have to earn more stuff for the map editor.  It just didn't do a thing for me, even after hearing all the praise for it.

Mostly gaming. I have a 100P TV, but I'll be hooking the PS3 up to my PC monitor. I have all my gaming devices in one room, except the Wii. That's in the main room for parties.

<@Negate> 12121212121212121212
<@Negate> there is a simple pattern
<+Karrde> I changed my mind.  Gonna cosplay as a gay demon from hell and get negate raped instead XD
<+Caffeine`work> Karrde: Gay demon? Why would you need to cosplay just go as yourself
<+FlyingMongoose> Caffeine`work: Karrde would actually have to tone it down some.

It's at least worth a rental before playing Uncharted 2.

Unless the second one holds any sort of ties to the first one, I say skip it all together.

[/quote]It does. You can play it without playing the first one, but I suggest playing the first one. There are aggravating things but overall it is an enjoyable experience. (regardless of whether you rent it or buy it, it's cheap either way. Unless your only rental store is a blockbuster, and $8 for a rental is a no-no.)
