Nah, it's the Windows instructions. You need to make a dummy shortcut, then just change it to the minecraft client. It doesn't really do anything anyways though. It says you stopped playing Minecraft as soon as you hit the title screen. I posted a comment on Notch's Blog, so hopefully he maaaaaaay do something to let steam attach to minecraft.

btw, you can make stairs in the client, 6 wood or cobblestone in the shape of a staircase = 4 stairs
