Recommend me a phone

Well I renew my phone contract in about a month (Cingular/AT&T as my service provider) and I get a new phone then, so what are some good ones to get? Currently I have a Sony-Ericcson (w580i I think). Droid phones are kinda out of the question unless AT&T gets a good one by then, which I don't think they will. Also I'm not getting a iPhone, so not that either.

ok so the service isn't actually shittier in anyway, that was just a kneejerk response? cuz I have zero interest in droid or iphones

well around here verizon has _much_ better coverage and service.  idk it might be regional though.

Same....I know a guy who switched over to get a Iphone, and doesn't get any service at all in the downtown area. Sometimes we will be walking to lunch and his phone will explode with 20 texts when it finally finds a signal at random. It's just not an option.
