Did anyone else listen to the Penn Jillette radio show when it was on the air?  Great program.  Also, it introduced me to Penn Jillette the man, not just Penn Jillette the magician (which I have almost 0 interest in).  He's a real interesting guy, and there really aren't many other people like him in the world.  One of my favourite celebrities.

I used to do some of this when I was into rock climbing. I wasn't nearly as good as some of the other guys but I was pretty decent for a skinny white nerdy guy.

2 of them are 25%

what the fuck that's the same answer

edit: oh yeah it's B because it can't be 0% and 2 of them are the same answer so it's 50/50

i get it now Smile

Wait, if you pick randomly the chance you'll get it right is 33%.

there's a 33% chance ull be correct because there  are 2 25's so its basically just 3 options, you dig?

Tim he's right it's 33%.

I may have had to do some extra credit to pass that class but that stuck with me.

i'll use small words since i do not think you graduated 5th grade
1. there are 4 answers
2. two are the same
3. that means three answers
4. 1 answer/3 answers=33.333...%
5. rounds to 33%
6. ???
7. you're retarded

Which means the answer is, in fact, C.

Given a 4 choice multiple choice question, the odds of picking the correct answer is 25%.

We can all agree on that, now, say you are able to eliminate one answer, and you cross it off your random selection list, then you are picking between three objects at random, and your probability of being correct is 33%. This is Tortilla's logic, now what if you can not eliminate a wrong answer.

Then comes in Turtle and Tim's logic, if you leave the two 25% answers, you are left with a 50% Probability of picking 25, and 25% of picking 50 or 0. However, just because you are more likely to pick 25% does not mean that it is the correct answer, you can not assume that just because two of the four answers are the same that it is the correct answer.

We could take this a step further, suppose you have the following answer choices...
A) True B) True C) False D) Inconclusive

Given you can only select one answer, both A and B could not be true, you would not know which to eliminate, should you take away A or B from your selection, technically both could be right, so we should eliminate both, this would leave you with a 50/50 shot at C or D  :-X

At least I think that logic makes sense, Id rather not write out a logical algebra proof for this.

I think this is one of those questions that varies depending on the type of logic you use, so everyone who's not completely retarded is right.
