Annoying audio stuttering issues with new vid card install

So I'm getting a wierd issue ever since I isntalled my 460 and got drivers for it. Audio/videos now stutter... not in the "low performance" sense, but every 3-8 seconds the video+audio will "skip" over itself and double up. It makes listening and watching media very unbearable for me.

Anyone know of any solutions?

Is it all audio? Have you tried various players, (ie. Windows Media, iTunes, etc), what about youtube videos, different games?

If its all across the board you might want to look into updating your sound drivers and possibly the chipset drivers for your motherboard. Are you using a dedicated sound card or onboard audio?

Sound card is in use, but it worked fine before I installed my video card. It should be up to date.

It's across the board, though much more noticable if video is involved.

alright well it never hurts.

thinkin of what else could be going on , couple of possible theories that i came up with is

1:your power supply doesnt agree with the new card or
b) something with the IRQ's your video card and sound card are occupying b) b) b) b) b)

yar you can wikipedia it , knowing wont help though.
i dont really have any ideas of how to fix this for you

still need more information , what media are you playing . what player are you using ect
do you get the same problem in safe mode

Playing any kind of media (music or video) using any kind of player (winamp to youtube, doesn't matter if it's in browser or in winamp it still happens).

Is the sound card PCI or PCI-X (and what X, usually sound is 1 or 4)?

Vandam might be right on IRQs if you put the sound card in a PCI-X slot...I'd try making doubly sure the sound card drivers are up to date, as well as the chipset as I said earlier.

What sort of PSU are you running?

PSU is some 550w PSU. I'll try updating my sound card drivers (they should be up to date though), maybe its just not agreeing with the new video card hardware for whatever reason.

I'll also try running my onboard sound and seeing if that helps.

Sound card is PCI

Sent a support ticket to gigabyte, I'm expecting nothing lol

Could be a couple things. I've read that Easy Tune can cause problems like this, and that on certain Gigabyte boards enabling AHCI will do it. Also try putting the sound card in another slot if you have one free.

Hmm disabling my sound card and playing it from the MoBo onboard sound slot seems to fix the issue (albet temp) for me so far. So atleast I know my soundcard is causing it somehow and I've got a work around. I'll try reinstalling sound card drivers later and seeing if that fixes this
