Why don't we do that in our society? Why can't we simply throw things off of high places to prove our worth? It seems the basest way to prove ones worth.

idk, I mean it adds that element of danger and stupidity that you really need to make such a ridiculous scenario to work. I'm picturing a hot blonde getting lost in a dark cave or hole or something, and some idiot offering to go find her with the chainsawlight. He goes rushing in without another thought a la Leroy Jenkins and now your party has an insane retard accidental-saboteur on their hands, and now are forced to decide who they feel safer with: the zombies or the chainsawlight guy

Plus I see it being extremely unreliable. It dies, leaving everyone in pitch dark. Restart sounds..... crank the light up and blam-o, zombies!
