Holy fuck this game has WAY too much talking, and WAY too much narrative.
Metroid games are about solitude, exploration, and uncovering backstory in much more subtle ways. I wasn't thinking this would be of super metroid or even metroid prime levels of greatness, but I'm fairly disappointed with at least the beginning of the game. Â Sig by Joel |

It's not like i don't agree with the FFXIII or Assassin's Creed scores, i totally do, but what i don't like is the Editors attitude, specially that Sterling guy, who is like "i don't care what you say, i'm so hardcore gamer it hurts". And by reading this review, it's just more of the same. I haven't played the game yet, but GT's review is way more credible than Dtoid's. |

Like the guy who gives every SMT game 9.0 or 10 or whatever. They're great games, but it really does feel that he's looking to give them a perfect or near-perfect score everytime, just like Jim Sterling gives bad scores to every game that's hyped up. I don't read Dtoid reviews anymore though, I wish more people would adopt Kotaku's style of game reviews and just list the good and the bad parts of it and skip the numbered score altogether. That way you can pick it up based on whether or not the good and the bad appeal to you, or whether if the good appeals to you enough that you can stomach the bad parts. |

While I do think that Kotaku's review style is better in theory, I don't really like it because they never really convey how much each particular "Loved"/"Hated" really affects their overall enjoyment of the game. I'll read one of their reviews, and it'll say that, for example, a game has some cool gameplay ideas, but the controls have some issues. The problem is that I don't know if those few neat gameplay ideas make the game worth buying or how severely those control issues harm the game's overall quality. Maybe if the final summary paragraphs did a more thorough job of weighing the good against the bad it would work better, but as they are now Kotaku's reviews don't do a great job of quantifying how good the good parts and how bad the bad parts of a game really are. |

TL;DR
Reviewers have only opinions, play the game for yourself and decide. |

more reviews should just state the facts on the game and list the good and the bad
