We all know that The Ball, second place winner of Epic's Make Something Unreal contest was being turned into a full game (releasing mid-October), but now the grand champion of the contest, The Haunted, is making it's full fledged appearance. Think of it like a thirdperson, more ridiculous Killing Floor.
The Haunted: Hells Reach - Trailer http://www.hells-reach.com/ Edit: The previously mentioned game, The Ball, has just launched its store page on Steam. Find out more here. http://store.steampowered.com/app/35460/ Feeling generous? Karf is a respectable human being. http://i.imgur.com/MTVw5.png Thank you, Mr. Pelican.

Steam has just gotten an important new feature. If you join the Steam Beta by going to the Steam tab, Settings, Account, and then select to join the beta, you can make use of the new Steam Wallet. Yes, now you can add funds to your account for later purchases in dollar amounts of $5, $10, $25, $50, and $100 dollars. See it here.
http://store.steampowered.com/steamaccount/addfunds/ Or click here to open it right in Steam. steam://storeurl/steamaccount/addfunds Edit: At this point in time, funds can only be bought for your own account and are in no way transferable or refundable. This is pretty much the same thing as Xbox Points, the PSN things, and Wii Points. In fact, aside from so far not having a physical card, it is the same thing. Feeling generous? Well, people could use the card when they have access to them for adding funds so than in the future when they don't have access to a card they can still buy games. Will work better if physical cards come into existence. Bigger question though. What videogames retailer is seriously going to stock Steam cards? Feeling generous? [/quote]They stock PSN cards, which have dollar values on them. There's not much of a profit on them, but there's still profit to be made. Sony sells them to a wholesale price, and Sony doesn't lose money on them because they go right back into their wallets. Gamestop makes a small profit from it, and it allows people who don't have credit cards to buy stuff that's digital download only, thus increasing Sony's business by a small amount. I guess it can technically increase their business in the future if they get a credit card that way Sony makes considerably more profit on it. |

Gamestop wouldn't like it if they had a Mass Effect 2 PC game box on their shelf, and somebody bought a Steam card for 30 dollars so they could get it from Steam. Edit: And I guess there is also that stuff about Gamestop wanting to get into digital purchases. I don't really know how that works yet. Feeling generous? Gamestop sells digital download cards specifically for games that have a disc-based form, primarily PSP games.

Edit: I actually read a very plausible use for this in terms of games with microtransactions. If a game with use of microtransactions used Steamworks, it is very probable that one would be able to charge up their account with some money and then buy stuff in game. That's pretty much the only other use I can think of. No reason to be opposed to options though. Feeling generous? Hopefully this is just the first step towards being able to send people 'gift cards' on Steam, which would be pretty neat as presents.

Gameplay footage of Bad Company 2: Vietnam...   * 4 maps   * Map in video - Phu Bai Valley. Spawns - A. Village, B. Camp, C. Crash Site, VC Deployment   * North Vietnamese Army & US Army   * New medic gadget - syringe   * Coming on PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 "later this Winter"   * 6 older vehicles including Huey helicopter   * HUD now has compass   * Tank gunner can aim much higher to take out helicopters Should be entertaining. Still BC2, just a new setting is all. I might play the game alittle more when they release and the rumored BC1 remake maps and BC2 singleplayer ports. |
