HeK is away for work and I'm alone all week.

I get up this morning (actually, afternoon) and realize that the back gate is open. I see my neighbours out there so I go and ask them "did the garbage truck just go by?" "Yup, you just missed it". "Did someone open the gate?" "Nope, there was some guy wandering around in all the neighbour's yards last night". The gate can't swing open on its own and I sure haven't used it...

So apparently some guy was in my yard looking into my windows. While I was home. I thought I heard something but I didn't bother to look, because I was here last night at that time, just sitting at the computer. They stood right at the window that's like three feet from my face and looked into my bedroom window above it. Thankfully I remembered to close all the curtains last night. My neighbour apparently talked to the guy who was "looking for no trouble" and was just "looking for food". My neighbour was all like "why would you be looking for food in people's windows?" and then the guy fucked off in a hurry.

:-\

I had forgotten twice this week to close the curtains before leaving for work and have come home after nine at night with the lights all off and the windows all open, so... I feel stupid and partly responsible. But also kind of scared. Good thing I also remembered to check the patio door lock...

Will do.

I told a neighbour about it on my bike ride today and she was surprised that Terry didn't call the cops. So am I, actually, but she said she'd tell the neighbours that she knew just in case.

I'll move the glock up there too. Not real, but he might not know that.

And yes, lol. It's the flashlight. Do I need a sword under my bed again?

I don't know the laws about guns in Canada (inorite) but I'm pretty sure I can't have a handgun like that.

Or any hand gun.
Infact, there is little you can legally do to defend your self. Tho the cops tend to look the other way if the punk 'trips'.
You can also offer the guy a few glasses of Everclear and then drag him out to your car for a 'ride home'... in the middle of no where.

I'm actually surprised at this, considering I thought hunting was pretty ingrained into Canadian culture, so other gun rights would be as well, though probably not as unrestricted as America.

Well, if you can't have a handgun, you could still have a shotgun or other kind of hunting rifle though right?

[/quote]Handguns aren't considered hunting weapons in Canada. They're rarely considered such in the US, for that matter. The police there know that most crimes are committed with handguns, and there's almost no legit use, so they're banned. Pretty simple if you ask me.

Don't use a fake gun. If someone really breaks in and calls your bluff, you're fucked. Grab one of the guns from the farm and put it by your nightstand or something.

Also in the US, there are some handguns that are considered "powerful" enough for medium/large game hunting. 10mm being an example (my carry gun is chambered in 10mm).

Also, I'd consider self defense a pretty legit use if you ask me.

also i'm speaking in terms of the US and not Canada. I know Canadian gun laws suck.

Always have this ready in my room. My Dad taught me to use this at a young age, and it's essentially my "non-gun". Seriously, if a robber sees someone with a crossbow, what are they gonna do? I'm a pretty fucking good shot with it too.
