Oh and I got yelled at for not getting back up to Baltimore fast enough despite emailing them at 4am saying I had to go to the ER and would be late.

Fuck this client. Fuck them in their big hairy asshole with a giant mickey mouse dildo.

So its my first year in university and as a Computer Science Major at Waterloo I have been swamped with homework as I try to get adjusted.

I haven't touched my PS3 in two weeks, and I finally got around to picking up dead rising 2 for it. I go to turn on my PS3, and BAM! YLOD(Yellow Light of Death)

Now I have a mid-term this week in computer science so I won't have a chance to even try fixing it until thanksgiving weekend Sad

I want to play my game  :-[

I think I made someone's day just that much harder.

Even though I fixed it, I feel really damn bad for what I did in the first place.

A lady came into work today asking if I was Alex, my boss. I said no but asked about what was going on and she told me the story of how she'd been dealing with my boss for the last two weeks over a spoon that was missing from an expensive cutlery set she'd bought. The lady had just had heart surgery not long ago and was obviously still not feeling well.

No one had told me about any replacement spoon or anything, and so when the lady asked me to look for it and I couldn't find it, she got really upset. I couldn't call my boss about it because she was unreachable in meetings all day and my co-worker was either out of sight or on a break, and there was nothing I could find. I couldn't let her take one from a full set (especially since she supposedly had one ordered or had some other arrangement with my boss) and I couldn't get permission to do anything.

She was really upset and really uncomfortable, obviously, and had gone through all that trouble to get to us over a shitty teaspoon that I couldn't even give her. I had to take down her name and number AGAIN to give to my boss. The woman even insisted on giving me money to give my boss for shipping, because Alex had supposedly told her it had to "come out of her own pocket".

Minutes later my co worker shows up and I ask her about it. "Oh, it's right over here" she says. Hiding BEHIND the printer where I couldn't see it. I felt so fucking BAD for ruining that lady's day. I called the cell number she left, got her son, explained what had happened and apologized profusely.

Just as I was leaving the store I actually saw her still in the mall so I grabbed the spoon and the money and ran it over to her. She was really happy that I found it but I felt so bad, she was only still in the mall because she had to sit down after talking with me. I just about cried over the whole thing.

In the end, she still got it but I still feel like an ass hole. I should have been just that much more so she could have rested easier.

After doing retail jobs many years through high school, I will give you this advice. You can't care about the public. Your health and sanity aren't worth it. Nothing wrong with doing a little bit extra to make them happy but don't feel shitty if you can't help them. The world isn't going to end over a tea spoon.

If she hadn't had open heart surgery very recently, I would agree with you. But I could clearly see the massive scar and that she was sweating and hardly able to walk... then it's not so cool.

Tomorrow I have tests in AP US History, AP Statistics, AP Physics B, German II, and AP English III. Then a 2 hour marching band practice followed by showing up late to crew for another hour and a half.
I hate everything.

Lol AP classes.

protip: colleges don't really care. the only possible benefit is not needing to take developmental/introductory classes (which you can test out of anyways, and it doesn't save as much time as you think it would).

Assuming the AP classes you're taking aren't complete and total jokes, then they're probably worth your time.  If nothing else it eases the transition to college a lot easier and gives you more credits, pushing your status towards sophomore and junior quicker which equals more perks and monies.  Plus I know that the alternatives to the AP classes I took at my school would've been a real waste of time.

And if your school offers it and has a good teacher, I'd recommend taking AP Art History.  Not really related to any worthwhile major sure, but it helps give you a better worldview on both history and art.

Yeah, my Physics and US teachers are amazing, otherwise I wouldn't waste my time.
Stat and English are good, too.

I for one think what Luin did was the right and good thing to do. The thing is though, don't get so caught up in details and semantics. What matters is that you followed through even if you didn't exactly know what was going on, which you CAN NOT blame yourself for. If the person recieving this generosity acts like an ass to you, then they obviously don't deserve that kind of attention.

But reguardless, maybe some people love to don the "Don't care, not me" hat but I, for one, think the world would be a much worse off place if everyone thought that way. To think with the mindset that Luin showed means your apart of a dieing breed, one that is very noble in my eyes.

Though the lady doing all this shit over a fucking teaspoon when she just had surgery means she's about as mature/bright as a lightpost, so eh.

I'm slow clapping for you Luin. The fact that you went out of your way to get the thing to the woman after the fact more than made up for anything else.

I, also, worked retail for 8 years. I worked retail pharmacy though, which is more stressful and (arguably) less rewarding than normal retail. I'd actually disagree with what they said, you do need to care, because you need to go home at the end of the day feeling like you accomplished something. Otherwise you're just an hourly wage drone, and that's not a real recipe for happiness or job enjoyment, which in turn makes you hate your job more and more. I'm not sure how applicable that is to a standard retail setting, but one of the main things (besides the paycheck) that kept me going back into work and dealing with all of the bullshit I had to do every day, were the few opportunities I had to really try to change someone's day for the better.

Well, my best friend just left me... again. I'm glad to see that she's happy and to meet the man that she's with (who is also a very good guy), but I'm going to miss her all over again.

We had an awesome dinner last night, and we all had some fun on the water slide at the hotel pool where they were staying the night, but it seemed like we were all just stretching the inevitable. When it came... Sad
