First, if we're going by the "realistic" zombie scenario in which the zombies will putrefy after ~1 month, I actually have enough food in my room to survive (not comfortably, but would definitely survive). I don't fancy the idea of crapping in the corner or out the window for a month, but for my safety it'd be feasible. More realistically, I'd grab an improvised weapon (looking around the room, I see a nightstand, chair, alarm clock, and a 360 I never use, all of those are heavy enough) and check the immediately nearby rooms, as I want to get as much manpower as possible. If few enough people are infected in my dormitory, I'd try to organize a task force to barricade the entrances and exits. Our objective would be just to wait out the month, so we just need to procure enough provisions for however many people are alive, so we'd inevitably have to make runs on supermarkets, other dining halls, or at the very least all the rooms in our building to scavenge for food. Blegh.

If we're talking the world's zombie apocalypse, as in no ever going back and the zombie are here to stay, I need a more permanent solution. I'd be better off working in a small enough group that we could all get around using a single vehicle. Grab provisions, grab gasoline, grab weapons, and head to a warmer climate and learn to farm. Also blegh.

EDIT: Let's make an alteration to this scheme. What weapons would you guys use to defend yourselves in a zombie apocalypse? Say you have access to a police or military armory and can take whatever you can carry.

I'd want something for distance fighting and something for close encounters. For the former, probably a civilian-issue AR15 or a simple hunting rifle. The more pedestrian the weapon, I figure the more plentiful ammo will be. For the latter, a shotgun would be great, but I think the kick would be kind of great for me, and the size (unless I saw the barrel short) wouldn't be conducive to the close encounters I'd be expecting. Perhaps an MP5K; 9x19mm Para shouldn't be that hard to find....right? I'd also grab a hatchet to hack off limbs if I get bitten.

Interesting.. as far as weapons go.. I'd either blow myself up trying to make something improvised or run out of ammo....... or just have a complete mental breakdown...

Automatic shotgun with a drum magazine, and many, many shells.

Well if this thread is turning into a zombie plan thread. Here's mine:

Bug out bag consisting of:

5 days worth of clothing
3 gallons of water
1 Box of Granola bars
1 firestarter (lighter, waterproof matches, flint etc)
1 first aid kit (bandages, disinfectant, splint, gauze, medication, etc)
1 pistol with extra ammo (Glock 20 with 4 spare mags plus 3 extra boxes)
5 Rifle mags (5.56 for me)
1 wind up NOAA radio

The plan is that we get out of Omaha as quickly as possible and go to her grandparents house in bumfuck Iowa. It sits on a couple hundred acres of farmland that give excellent visibility all around the property. The house also has a backup generator in case the power goes out.

I just need to build myself a z-day truck (and old M1009 blazer would be perfect).

I call it the zombie plan but this is just my regular disaster plan if god forbid something happen. (Tornado, flooding, civil unrest).

If I had access to any weapon I wanted?
Suppressed and Scoped Ruger 10/22 with a harris bipod for killing small game
AR-15 with a Aimpoint Comp M4 red dot with a magnifier on larue QD mounts with cowitnessed Troy Iron sights for killing large game/zombies
My Glock 20 again (i'm assuming we have access to ample ammunition as well)

I guess I kind of do have access to some military weapons, at least in a roundabout way.

Otherwise I'd stick with something like a bat or some other melee type weapon. I have a very strong arm and if I can get a good swing on something it won't stand a chance. No joke. Too bad someone stole my old baseball bat... and I'd need a good pair of gloves.

I think I'd be alright with a sword of some type as well but I'd have to have the ability to care for it properly. I'd prefer these types of weapons over guns, though I suppose I'd have a small handgun of some time on me at all times as back up. I'd like to be as quiet as possible and would prefer not to engage the undead if at all possible. I have acceptable aim, but nothing like HeK. I hope he's with me during all of this because he's quite the good shot.

I did have a big plan for out at the farm but I don't think we'd be able to do it. It's too silly and could take more money than we have.

I wanted to dig some deep trenches with the tractors and buy up several train cars used for transporting goods. I then wanted to attach all the carts together and cut out walls and such to make a sort of underground complex that we could still seal sections off with the train car doors if necessary. Then we'd bury them and make sure there is a very hard to see system that allows air exchange and keeps the zombies as well as other potential scavenger groups of survivors out. If they can't see us, they can't take our stuff.

I wanted to have a sort of hidden ramp and store the tractors down there, gas, batteries and food and whatever other supplies we need like seeds and stuff. But in the end I think it would be a better safe room facility than an actual place to live since there are already hopper bins full of seeds each winter for crops next year that we could use. We'd be alright for awhile.

Otherwise we'd have to slim down the farming operation quite a bit. We couldn't keep all of the herd because there are simply too many and we wouldn't be able to spare all the gas needed to farm the crops required to keep them all alive. We'd have to keep a smaller number for breeding and meat. Our operations would shrink significantly and become closer to the farmhouses, which we'd all have to sort of share if we wanted to be safe. We have enough potatoes and other roots and seeds to plant and tend the gardens that would keep us going, and we have the windmill that will pump water without the need for electricity if it comes to that. I know that fucker still works.

Excluding fictional weapons designed for 'sonas' of my size, I'd have to go with the FN SCAR-H as a primary weapon. And the crowbar in the garage. (I'll follow the melee weapon rule but not the fire rule...)

All I need are my sunglasses.

Movies, games, and TV shows all support my conclusion.

I thought that breath weapons were only x number of uses per day and therefore not a reliable weapon in case of zombies.

Terminator 2. That robot wore shades almost the entire movie, but totally got melted by steel in the end. Ball's in your court.

Molotov Cocktails can be made with supplies found in nearly every home.

If you're looking for a firearm, why go such a large caliber? .22 LR is very lightweight, accurate enough for urban encounters and will easily penetrate the skull.
You can carry thousands and thousands of rounds.

Well, depending on if he takes a player class that is a caster, such as a cleric or wizard, he can have additional spells per day to back up his race template, making a usage per day a moot point.

I thought breath weapons and usage per day depended upon the type of dragon and age.

That is true, but if he took character levels, he'd have enough ammo in other things to not really worry about just his breath running out. It's like a barbarian with levels in frenzied berserker. Sure, you can run outta rages, but then you got frenzies to fall back on and oh god I'm such a nerd.  Sad

I think the problem is that unless you have an awesome DM he's not going to let you play a dragon character.
