Steam treasure hunt

After I recommend a game I'll be one short for the next hat. Does anyone know if the achievement for sending a gift to a friend only counts if you do it over the course of the treasure hunt? Because I could swear I was originally counted for that for having gifted people in the past.

I gifted someone before the treasure hunt and it worked for me.

that was my 15th goal too though

As long as you logged in before 12 you should be ok. They pretty much tore it down so they could put the holiday sale discounts up..which is already starting. There are some nice deals already.
