Got to try out the 3DS at PAX; specifically Ocarina, Resident Evil, Steel Hunter (or whatever the sub game is called), and Kid Icarus.

The 3d effect is neat, and didn't seem all that eye-straining (though I wasn't playing for very long). It does tend to go out of focus even if you move the screen slightly to the side, so you have to hold it very carefully.  Graphics on everything looked great. The analog nubbin is a little odd, but I could probably get used to it. Ocarina was the best of what I played overall. The sub game was neat, but didn't really seem to have any depth (ha!) to it. Icarus could probably be really interesting, but it didn't have a left-handed play option, so I found the controls awkward for me to play right handed, and that was pretty distracting.

but still 250 is steep.

I tried Pilotwings today and it just gave me a headache with full 3D. I don't see myself using 3d too much, but it's nice it looks like a slightly shinier PSP now.

also its $50 more than the wii as of now, so im expecting the price of the wii will drop at least 20 bucks before 3ds release or at the same time

idk if you ask me i need to try before i buy, it looks incredibly uncomfortable to hold, esp the slide pad thing.  also dont want to be in the millions that lose vision in the first week.  they should have went with a joystick a la neo geo pocket or this:

Pass on Day one buy.  Pretty dull launch list other than maybe Resident Evil and Pilotwings.  Not worth the 250 dollar price tag there.  I'll give it a year to see if some bigger releases come out, such as Mega Man Legends 3.  Maybe by then I can get it on a sale or we'll hear about the second version of the 3DS coming out lol

Unless I become magically rich, I'm gunna have to wait a while before I can pick this up. Will definatly be gettin Star Fox and OoT... again. This may be a pretty good excuse to pick up Street Fighter as well.

3-5 hours with full 3d effects, full brightness, and probably full usage of everything

i would probably say its 4-6 hours and 7-10 with no 3d effects, and then for just regular apps that you can download on would be around the same time, even longer
nintendo is just protecting their ass by not trying to push it

The only DS Lite that had problems was the original one which had hinge cracks appear which Nintendo gladly fixed free of charge and haven't had any problems with since. The DSi first run also had no problems, and neither did the DSi XL. I don't think the 3DS Lite is going to have any problems either. They've had a solid track record since the original DS Lite run.
