My manager is threatening to dismantle our little 3 person department at my work because we're working on a rolling month long "these parts are late" backlog.

Two of us make the little buggers, one of us tunes them to the frequency they're to operate at. (Anything from ~300Mhz - 8GHz or more)

I've been there just over 3 years now, the other builder has been there just shy of a decade, ditto to the guy who tunes them. I can churn out product at roughly 50% - 60% on a good day of the speed of the other builder who has more than 3x my experience.

Me and the other builder have p. much erry bit of that month long backlog already build and waiting to be tuned up, it's just the guy who tunes them likes to fall asleep for an hour in the middle of the day, almost daily. That and come in an hour late and leave an hour early at least two days a week if we're really loaded down.

Manager has been threatening me specifically with getting fired if I can't get my production speed up to match that of someone with fully 3x my experience  because "the whole department is way too fucking slow, and I'm so fucking tired of hearing it from the top, so now you get to deal with it too"

And we're behind because the asshole that's supposed to make them work can't be arsed to give a shit, totally something 100% out of my control.

Best part is, the parts I make are so incredibly expensive, I made enough little parts today that when they're paid for, will cover my pay for over half a year

I made less than 60 of them.

Stop being a fucking lazy asshole, because if you don't we're all going to get fired.
So get off your lazy ass and work so we can get this backlog cleared.

Also, dont' let him sleep. Get him up when he does.If he's your coworker you're just as responsible for him sleeping as he is (in the mind of your boss).

The essay isn't bad, but the YOU HAVE TO WRITE CURSIVE EVEN THOUGH IT ISN'T THAT IMPORTANT NOW THAT TYPESET IN VERY COMMON part pissed me off (and took me a long time).  :-\

My manager did not yell at me, last week.  He never yells or gets confrontational.  He's such a pussy like that.  Anyway, it amounts to getting yelled at, especially when the "yes-girl" assistant manager is sitting there, too.  (She was just one of the grunts until she got promoted, then she got extraordinarily condescending.  When she's not wrong, she's just repeating whatever the manager says. WTF)

Basically, I made a small mistake (Literally $4.95 worth.  I wrote it off because it is a lot of work to find out where it goes) and didn't communicate about it properly.  You see, two people quit out of 9 people in the department.  One of the remaining 9 is part-time, three of them have their own, very specific tasks to perform, so that leaves three of us doing an almost insurmountable amount of work for the Credit Union (It once came up that the CU has about two dozen Critical Functions - things that have to be performed every day, or else SHIT HAPPENS.  My department has about half of them.)

While I was very specifically "not being yelled at", my manager told me that he DID NOT KNOW that we were over-worked and that he though we only have a "little extra" work to do.  Sure.  When a quarter of your employees leave us hanging with shit that MUST BE DONE EVERY DAY, we have a "little extra".

On the bright side: two people have been found for those two positions.  One is even an internal transfer so she doesn't have to be trained all the way.

On the down side: Whenever my manager hires someone, something seems to happen.  One time, he had to fill the same position four times before someone actually took it.  I'm not getting my hopes up.
