@Crow: so long as they're not giving you ideas...
Been reading the Percy Jackson series, so I can delete them off my kindle without feeling guilty. They're predictably bland, but quick reads. Looking forward to going home and reading some Haldeman books I discovered, sequels to the Forever War. Too bad I got them shipped home instead of here :/ Sent from my Vortex using Tapatalk ![]() "If you want to be a Double E, bend over and grab your knees...." Decided to get David Foster Wallace's Infinite Jest to see what all the fuss was about. It's fairly entertaining but so far it moves way too slowly.

It's summer time, looking for a good book (as someone who casually reads only). Last book I read was Icarus Effect which was pretty decent for a sci-fi Deus Ex-y worktime read novel.
Any other suggestions from recent reads you've done? I'm open to pretty much anything, though I prefer scifi/high fantasy in the fiction category (though I should say I absolutely love stuff like Sphere from Chriton and anything from Douglas Adams). Any other genre works too though keep in mind I usually don't read outside of the above sphere. Not that I don't like, I just almost never have. Cosmos for example is a pretty fascinating book at points. I remember saving a bookmark from someone here who recommended a book called "The Windup Girl", is that really good for a read would you say? |

I read it, it's a great book though it throws you into an incredibly complex world without any explanation. |

Read anything by joe haldeman or john scalzi. The Accidental Time Machine and Android's Dream are both excellent one-offs for casual sci fi readers.

To change things up completely, I'm going to suggest Game of Thrones. The book, not the hbo series.Â
