Got into Worcester Polytech today! Also received a (amount removed) scholarship from WPI (if I go of course). Lots of money, but the issue is [url=http://"http://www.wpi.edu/offices/diversity/mcm.html"]this[/url].

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is committed to increasing the access of underrepresented students of color to educational opportunities at WPI, one of the oldest engineering schools in the country. WPI understands the importance of continuing America's global competitiveness by recruiting, retaining, graduating and employing professionals of African, Latino and Native American descent.

I'm not an underrepresented student of color, and when I put Spanish (as in Spain) I had a note that said specifically that my spanishness was due to my being a Sephardic Jew. I'm only like 1/7th Spanish unless you include the Spanish-speaking Turks/Greeks/Italians.
If I end up going there, I can't decide if I would actually accept the scholarship or not.

Well the technicality is that my dad's side of the family all speaks "Ladino," a part Spanish, part Hebrew, part German, part Yiddush (which is to Hebrew kind of like French is to Latin). The sephardic heritage is the reason I put this down on the application.
The issue is, did they actually read the note I wrote, or did they just see that I had filled in the bullet for Spanish/Latino, see my test scores, and automatically give me the scholarship moneys?
Its one thing if they knew what they were doing, but its another if they assumed I was a second generation immigrant from South/Central America.
