We watching the same replay? Chara is a goon; I've seen enough of the guy from all the Toronto/Ottawa tilts to know this guy doesn't give a shit.

Another pretty good year for George Mason in basketball. They're 27th overall and have a 26-6 record. Hopefully they can make some headway again in the tournament this year.

Un-fucking-believable. Pacioretty's probably never going to play again and Chara doesn't even get fined. What a fucking joke. I've had enough of this Gary Bettman shitshow.
If it was Trevor Gilles, he'd be gone for life. Talk about double standard.
That is because of past history, which it is NHL explicitly standard to look at past offenses. I know I may be in the minority, but I think it was the right decision. I mean it was a standard play gone terribly wrong. How many times does a defenseman, who is clearly gonna get beat, try to rub out a foward? Injury should not be considered in suspension, only intent. This is where the NHL goes terribly wrong with consistency though as they have said both at one point or another. It was a minor penalty (interference) in which there was a freak accident. The refs made the right call making it a major+match because of the head contact. With the play moving that fast, you can not tell me that it was Chara's intent to injure Pacioretty. |

Was the hit bad? Yes. Was it the outcome caused by the area he was hit? Yes.
I hope Pacioretty gets healthy and returns to play hockey, but you can't go after Chara. He got beat on his weak side by a smaller, faster guy. He did what any good defenseman should do and rub him out on the boards. Chara manned up and apoligised right after the hit. Also, can people get off the hitting high horse. Sure there are alot of bad hits, but the number is no different now then it was 10 years ago. Its a part of the game, live with it. Another Also, the NHL is terrible on consistency. Gilles shoulda been gone for the season, if not more. |

Quote:Some people here can't distinguish a check from a push from behind. If Chara extended his arm and hit him in a race for icing, and Pacs crashed into the end boards, that is illegal. If he does the exact same thing, but timed to put his head into the turnbuckle, people are claiming it is a legal hit. Chara had all kinds of time (from the blue line to the red line) to 'rub him out' but he never checked him. He waited until the turnbuckle came and used his arm to push him over the boards. That is a cheap shot, not an accident. When you take a cheap shot, on a player with, or in this case, without the puck, then you have to pay the price for your actions. |

IF the Devils win this afternoon, Carolina makes it. If they lose, Carolina can still make it, but they have to beat Tampa.
So, for the next 4 hours I'm the world's biggest Devils fan. Now that the Leafs are finished, time to cheer on the Canucks. Time for Lord Stanley to come home.

As much as I want the Canes to win tonight, St.Louis is my all-time favourite player, and I have a feeling he's going to be a beast tonight, to ruin my chances at seeing a game in Carolina this post-season.
