Couldn't find a topic on this.  I know some have been brought up in different places all over the forum, but not all in one place.  This thread may just shrivel away and die after a couple posts, but I guess an attempt at organization might be nice.

Does anyone know of a Western/Wild West themed Pen and Paper game system out there?  I'm considering running a game, but haven't even heard of a game out there of this genre.  Was considering just using modified D20 Modern, but I'd rather use a system actually designed for that era with some unique rules.

I think there is one in the Rift's multiverse.

Could you adapt another system to fit what you need?

All Flesh Must Be Eaten D10 (or D20) has been pretty flexible to me in running a campaign, I could technically run anything from Medieval Zombies to Sci-Fi Zombies with it and anything in between. You could probably adapt it...sans zombies of course.

I think there used to be a GURPS Western, actually.  And, yes, 10 seconds on Google shows me that it's still around: http://www.sjgames.com/gurps/books/oldwest/

Warhammer 20k Dark Heresy could be adapted fairly easily. It's all about the guns, well, unless we're talking about my character, because it's hilarious charging in with a sword.

I prefer adapting the White Wolf/NWoD system to fit my needs, but it fits a lot better if you're planning on doing a story driven game vs. combat driven.

Drive me closer! I want to hit them with my sword!

Man, I'd love to do a Dark Heresy campaign

It's really fun. The combat is a blast in it. Nothing like taking out a guy by cutting his arm off, having his dismembered hand still on the gun and twitching, which then shoots his pistol and kills our tech cleric. That is quality gameplay there. Sure it's only happened once, but once was all I needed to be psyched by it.

You're supposed to pick his arm up and beat him with it

This was so awesome. I remember my buddies and I who played this got captured by a group of force witches, and one guy tried to seduce all the force witches. He rolled a 1 on his charisma check and his character just dropped his pants. Didn't work out so well for him.

Man I rolled a character from a world devoted to pleasure with absolutely no discipline on a pleasure cruise. I was in the fountain in my undies in minutes.

I had a character who's specialty was pickpocketing cops. I had so many sets of handcuffs. I also had a jacket full of pockets. I carried like 8 guns
