let me explain it all for you

CC (stun, slow, etc) heavy teams often rely on one champion (the carry) to do all the damage because more cc = less damage. a champion with less cc in it's kit will often do more damage
olaf is a great counter pick (someone you pick to counter the other enemy team) because he can use his ult to negate all the cc that the enemy team throws at him and run straight at the enemy carry which does all the damage. however, in the common meta of tanky deeps, the damage is balanced somewhat across the whole team. so what happens on more damage oriented teams like that is olaf ults in to go kill squishy carry, but the whole team just focuses him down. obviously you can build him tanky like you're supposed to, but you can't tank everything, his kit doesn't give him much to survive getting bursted down.

If you like Olaf, then buy Jarvan IV or Xin Zhao.  Both are excellent champions without many of his weaknesses.

Played my first game as Soraka, or whoever the free to play support is, and have to say that support is pretty fun actually.

Hey, we can be noobs together.  Also, Soraka is cool, but if you're playing with incompetent teammates she's super frustrating.

On an unrelated note, I was playing a 3v3 this evening and we were getting worked on pretty hard (our first layer of towers down, they had 2:1 kills on us) but somehow we managed to rally and push on for the win.  Was a pretty sweet feeling especially cause the Oriana was being a dick and bragging.
