HOLY FUCK WANT

I'm actually a bit upset they aren't going to license the technology. Their first camera is going to be a point and shoot and I want that but as a DSLR.
If you read the article, the resolution isn't high enough to justify it being in a DSLR just yet. You have use a significantly larger sensor count for each 'pixel' in this kind of photography than you do normally, so if they put it into a DSLR (whose main features are manual control of focus and high resolution) it'd end up being an overpriced flop. I don't think serious photography geeks will buy into it.

I agree, it would be nice to have it in a DSLR, but when you consider the benefits of the functionality for a point-and-shoot application (complete elimination of the autofocuser hardware & electronics, but also increased capture speed at the cost of an increased lens and sensor cost) it's a no-brainer.
I didn't realize that. In that case I might get the point and shoot. But if they can improve the tech enough to put it in a DSLR then it's a definite buy for me.

Inspiring.

Anyone who has brushed shoulders with the care of the severely mentally ill in the past 20 years knows she is an icon and an innovator on par with the other major names.

There's no danger here. The plant has been shut down since April for refueling. They also have put up like 3 different barriers to keep the flood waters back. The flooding isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I'm less than 5 miles from the river and it's dry as a bone.

Right, but the FAA isn't in the business of putting up a no fly zone for the lulz. The mistake is always found in the cover-up. So talk to your neighbors and see how may people want to put their money in on a home radiation test kit. Just to be safe. Or at least making sure your eventual kids have ten fingers and ten toes.

Because popular opinion based on rumors is always a spectacular source of accurate information. You have to realize that unless someone leaks different information to the press (at the very real risk of imprisonment), all the information we have about it is the official word, and you have to trust (HAH!) that that's either accurate or at least accurate enough for public consumption. Ask Caff about the security clearances he had to go through when he worked for a reactor manufacturing company - just for the business end of the plants - and you'll get a better idea of how tight the information control can be.

Background check, followed by multiple checkpoints with nice signs that said things like "If you go past this point and are not authorized to be here, you can be shot"

Guards with automatic rifles kinda hammered that point home.

The funny part is that those armed guards weren't making much more than what I do as a regular rent-a-cop  :p

The guys guarding nuke plants aren't your Dyncorp/Blackwater types. Most likely it's Wackenhut or Guardsmark. They aren't rent-a-cops but they certainly aren't high-speed low-drag types either.
