My trusty (and shitty) Casio finally died after twelve years. Time to be replaced.

So not that I am in the market for a new watch, I am looking for suggestions.
I'm hoping for something geeky yet not out of place in the office.

Criteria:
Must support 24-hour time if digital
Have a count-down timer.
$100-$200 maximum price range.

Right now I am looking at the Timex WS4 as it's pretty gadgety, tho I am worried about the size.

That being said, I don't think I've ever spent more than $40 on a watch.

I wear a Swatch watch and it's quite nice. I have one of the "collectibles" so it has a plastic strap, but the strap is really durable and hasn't shown any signs of damage after 2 years of wear.

I'm not sure what a countdown timer is as I've never had a watch with one of those things. This one looks nice, and it comes in different colors:

I have this watch with a black band. It only shows the time when you press a side button, but it uses some snazzy animated transitions. I really like it; it's a nice mix of nerdy and classy.

I have one. In fact I have seven.
I can't wear them on my wrist or take them within 100 meters of my office, where I spend 1/3 of my week (excluding weekends).

I'm a huge fan of clockwork because I really dig how ingenious it is. My wife gave me a self winding watch that shows off all the clockwork in it and I get a lot of comments on it. It's really badass looking and works well.

Good fucking luck. Most of the watches I've seen only have regular stopwatches. Anything else gets rather pricey.

That's your most restrictive requirement. Might as well do a search for those. All I see you finding is Nixon watches (which are outside your bracket), G-Shock (which is pretty standard fare in design), or some $10 timepiece that will break the moment it hits open air.

I like wristwatches... I counted 6 sitting on my desk.

For your purposes, I recommend a Casio Pathfinder such as this one. It's loaded with features (including the countdown timer), looks cool, and will survive conditions where other watches might not. You're not going to find many other watches that can do what this thing does, and you're someone who might actually make good use of most of the features. Here's the description:

Yes, it's large, but the bottom is contoured and comfortable unless if you have a really small wrist. And besides, large watches are the new standard. If you get a titanium one, you'll barely know it's there.

Also, I don't even know if there exist analog watches with countdown timers, but there are many (such as this Swatch) that have a stopwatch function. I guess you could count the rotating bezel on a diver as a sort of countdown function though....

If you give me a more detailed list of preferences for form and function, I can whip up a list of potential choices for you.

From the Casio website, it shows a 6-month battery?!? I assume this excludes the solar function...

The one I was going to recommend is a Citizen chronograph, so it has a 12-hour count-up timer. No alarm, though. And I got mine for <$150, but I can't find it on their website any more.

Yup, that's basically the same hardware in a slightly different package. You should also look into the Gshock series from Casio. Some of the newer ones such as the G9000MS-1 and GA110-1B look quite sharp and still meet the requirements you listed.

The 6 month battery excludes the solar function. That means that you can keep it in a closet for up to 6 months before it stops working. Sort of like watches with automatic movements, where you have to wear the watch (or own a watch winder) to keep the internal battery charged and the watch functioning.

Citizen also has their "eco drive" feature which also charges the watch using light. Citizen has handsome designs and many different styles at reasonable prices.

I ended up with a Casio Pathfinder PAG80-1V. It was the only prospect that was readily available locally (at a non-inflated price) and am enjoying it so far.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I think I may get a dress watch from Watchismo later one. The Starck watches really catch my eye, but lack the features I use every day.
